Three-Phase Energy

3-phase 400/230v generators are often designed to power 400 volt, three-phase equipment. Even though they can power a modest amount of 230v equipment on their own, this is not their intended use, and it can be difficult to ‘balance’ the phases and keep the generator from tripping off.

To run 230v output alone and meet the generator’s output capacity, you must precisely ‘balance’ the loads on each phase (the amount you are drawing from each phase of electricity).

kVA ratings for generators
